August 31, final construction entry

The house is furnished and has a great feel. The theater room came out impressively (we added a Blu-ray disc player, 7.1 surround sound with B&K amp). The only construction related item remaining is the cooktop - which came in Natural Gas instead of Propane as ordered - and Dacor does not have a conversion kit - and is out of stock. We expect the new unit to arrive next Monday and it should be a simple swap-out.

The golf cart arrived Wednesday (red Yamaha 4-seat electric), the bikes and kayaks are in and ready to be picked up.

Leigh still has a few items to add - bedside tables, more art, rugs and cushions, porch furnishings. We opened the big door in the back (see the August photo gallery), which changes the feel of the main room from a comfortable living area to a grand ballroom - it really is a dramatic difference. She has altered the furnishings for the porch to accommodate the openness of the entire space.

This has been a great project and has turned out better than anticipated. I am very anxious for feedback and cannot thank all of the members enough for your patience and positive input -  and especially for the opportunity to build Ange de Mer. I hope it will be a site of joy and family memories for generations yet to come.

Sincerely,

Terry Chester, Contractor Member
