April 29
A lot of progress over the last two weeks. Tile in the laundry room and mechanical room is complete, and the hall bath is under way. That is turning out very nicely. We are using some glass tiles around the glass block wall, and pebbles on the floor. Shower pans and backer board are going in downstairs. The exterior column caps and trim are finally complete. The Ipe* decking on the rear deck are being installed. I have decided to use Ipe T&G flooring on the screened porch to give it a more interior feel – for times when the big doors are thrown wide open. A compass rose inlay will be centered in that floor. The kitchen cabinetry is scheduled to arrive Thursday, and the brick paver driveway and concrete curbs are to begin on Friday. The job is becoming a typical madhouse now – a good feeling but difficult to find a place to park! *IPÊ (sometimes called Brazilian Walnut) is an environmentally responsible choice which naturally resists rot, decay, insects, and mold without the use of toxic chemicals used in other decking products. Additionally, IPÊ is an incredibly strong, dense wood, harvested from naturally sustainable forests only. It has very high wear durability in daily use, and is resistant to splintering and checking, and will not burn.
