In the midst of the holiday season, it seems little gets done in construction. The roofers are mostly complete but have been held up by the deck membrane finishers. We are using a different product on the flat decks at the front balcony, above the screened porch, and on the two roof observation decks. It is a fiberglass and Gel Coat combination and will be very similar to the deck of a boat
. The coordination with flashing details between the roofers and fiberglass crew has been spotty. The front stairs have been constructed, and they are very good - I was concerned with the width of the lower section of steps given the mass of the columns, but they have turned out just fine. All of the rough-in is done now. HVAC looks very tight, electrical is exceptionally clean, and the plumbing is as good as always. I am very pleased with all of the subs used on the job thus far. The lighting control system technicians will be back to inspect the installation of their wiring prior to sheetrock - to prevent any delays (or surprises) when they return to install the components. Their company is located in Ft. Lauderdale. Exterior trim and siding are going in now. The folding door on the rear screened porch is in production, and the kitchen plan has been finalized and will be in production next week. I will be using a local cabinet maker to construct the cabinetry and wood tops.
