We just passed the rough-in inspection. This is the most thorough inspection - the last chance to look over the internal components of a house without an x-ray. We will be insulating this week and once past the insulation inspection, sheetrock! The exterior is really looking good, especially on the rear (beach) side. The crew is very proud of the work they are doing - it is turning
out well. I saw the glass block in the kitchen today - it has come out nicely. I will post pictures tomorrow. We used a different front porch decking than I have done before - pressure treated pine 2x6 tongue and groove. It feels more substantial than the usual 5/4x6 decking. The rear door is in production and I really think that is going to be spectacular - an eleven foot tall, six paneled, full glass unit that opens in both directions. We will recess the threshold into the finished floor and I am going to raise the level of the screened porch floor to the inter floor height, so when opened, the living room should feel like it expands out onto the screened porch. I am quite happy with the progress and will be delighted when we have sheetrock installed.
